This human protein (530 kDa; 4830 amino acids) contains a single BIR domain and RING finger motif. The protein has been renamed BIRC6 [baculoviral IAP repeat-containing protein-6]. See: IAP (inhibitor of apoptosis). The cDNA of this name has been identified by Nagase et al (1999). The encoded protein is identical with Apollon.
