KPMM2
This human myeloma cell line proliferates specifically in response to IL6 via an autocrine mechanism. The proliferative response of KPMM2 cells to exogenous IL6 is significantly stimulated in a dose-dependent manner (Goto et al, 1995).
IL11, Oncostatin M and LIF have no effect on the proliferation of KPMM2 cells. Cell growth is inhibited by IFN-alpha and IFN-gamma.
KPMM2 cells may be useful to investigate the pathogenesis of multiple myeloma and to evaluate the therapeutic potential of IL6 blocking agents in vitro and in vivo.
