[low density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 6; LDL receptor-related protein 6]. Brown et al (1998) have cloned the mouse and the human LRP6 cDNAs. Mouse LRP6 encodes a protein of 1,613 amino acids with 98 % sequence identy to human LRP6 and 71 % sequence identity to human LRP5. LRP6, like LRP5, differs from other members of the low density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) family in the unique organization of EGF domains and LDLR repeats. The Drosophila melanogaster homolog is known as arrow.
