[MPAC domains]
MPAC is an acronym standing for 'Mitotically Phosphorylated, Apoptotically Cleaved'. This protein domain has been identified by Spinette et al (2006). The MPAC domain is present at the N-terminus of the ubiquitin conjugation enzyme Ufd2a (E4B), which is regulated both by cleavage during cell death, and by phosphorylation during mitosis. A corresponding and similarly regulated domain is found at the C-terminus of poly(A) polymerase (PAP). The domain is removed by apoptotic protease cleavage during cell death.
