[TNF-like weak inducer of apoptosis] TWEAK is a member of the TNF family of proteins. TWEAK has the same sequence as APO-3 ligand (see: APO-3). Based on homology with other members of the TNF ligand protein superfamily the ligand is referred to also as TNF ligand superfamily member 12 [TNFSF12]. Another designation is DR3LG [DR3 ligand], which refers to the fact that this protein is a ligand for DR3 [death receptor-3]. For a hybrid protein derived from TWEAK and APRIL see: TWE-PRIL.
