a term referring to strategies aimed to cause or prevent cell death by apoptosis, usually involving interactions between FAS antigen and its ligand, cytokines that cause their expression, as well as signaling mediators. The term has been used by Kobayashi et al (1999), who suggested that apomodulation might be a novel therapeutic concept for the regulation of apoptosis, which is observed in synoviocytes of patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
