[normoblast, normoblastic]
Normoblasts are the first morphologically identifiable cells in a succession of cell types developing into erythrocytes (see also: hematopoiesis, erythroid progenitor cells).
The term nucleated red cells (nucleated red blood cells; abbr. nRBCs) is used commonly to record the presence of normoblasts in peripheral blood. This includes all cell types irrespective of the stages of maturation and includes Pronormoblasts (Rubriblasts, Erythroblasts, Proerythroblasts), Basophilic Normoblasts (Prorubricytes),
