perlecan domain IV peptide
This peptide (TWSKVGGHLRPGIVQSG), identified by Farach-Carson et al (2008), is contained in an immunoglobulin (Ig) repeat in domain IV of perlecan (HSPG2), a large, multi-domain, multifunctional heparan sulfate proteoglycan with a wide tissue distribution. The peptide supports rapid cell adhesion, spreading, and focal adhesion kinase activation in MG-63 human osteosarcoma cells, epithelial cells, and multipotent C3H10T1/2 cells, but not bone marrow cells.
The peptide has been used to isolate acinar cells from human salivary gland and shown to trigger differentiation of salivary gland cells
