The term A cells has been used to refer to one of five identifiable cells types in the subventricular zone of the brain (B1 astrocytes, B2 astrocytes, C cells, E cells) (Doetsch et al, 1997; Doetsch and Alvarez-Buylla, 1996). These cells represent immature neurons (neuroblasts) (for overview see also: Mamber et al, 2013).
Note: not to be confused with A-cells (Alpha-cells) of the pancreas.
