DIA

[Differentiation inhibiting activity] This factor was isolated initially from culture media of BRL cells (Buffalo rat liver) (Smith and Hooper, 1987). It inhibits the spontaneous differentiation of embryonic stem cells in vitro at picomolar concentrations (Smith et al, 1988; Smith and Hooper, 1989) and, therefore, is called also ES cell differentiation inhibitory activity.

ES cells can be propagated in the presence of DIA without using a layer of Feeder cells required initially to maintain a homogeneous population of pluripotent stem cells. The factor is therefore referred to also as ES cell growth factor or ESCGF ... ... ... ... ... Subscribe to continue reading! ... ...
