[myeloid cell leukemia sequence 1] MCL1, called also myeloid cell factor-1, was identified originally as an early gene induced during differentiation of ML-1 myeloid leukemia cells (Chao et al, 1998). The term BCL2L3 (BCL2-like-3) has been used synonymously. The term MCL1S refers to a short isoform (Bae et al, 2000). MCL1L refers to the long full-length protein.
