This term has been used to refer to inflammation in the context of cell necrosis. It involves the cell activation of cells of the innate and adaptive immune system caused by the release of damage-associated molecular patterns, intracellular organelles, cytokines and chemokine, released from necrotic cells owing to the loss of plasma membrane integrity associated with necrosis (for overview see: Sarhan et al, 2018; Linkermann, 2019). While blocking normal growth of hematopoietic stem cells, the released inflammatory signals can promote survival and proliferation of certain neoplastic cell types
