(MC3T3-G2/PA6) a bone marrow-derived stromal cell line. The cell line was established from newborn mouse calvaria. These stromal cells are pre-adipocytes that differentiate into adipocytes in response to glucocorticoids.
The cells can be maintained as a monolayer in the defined medium mSFO2 (containing transferrin and insulin) in the presence of bFGF or EGF. In the presence of bFGF, monolayers of PA6 cells grown in this medium can be used as feeder cells that support sustained generation of various hematopoietic progenitor types (see also:
