SIP
[Steroidogenesis-inducing protein] This factor of 60 kDa has been isolated from human ovarian follicular fluid obtained from hyperstimulated ovaries (Khan et al, 1990, 1992). The factor stimulates steroidogenesis in Leydig cells, rat adrenal cells, and human early luteal cells.
SIP is mitogenic also for a variety of human cell lines derived from ovarian carcinoma surface epithelial cells. EGF, TGF-alpha and IGF-1 potentiate the effects of SIP on these cells (Khan et al, 1997). SIP reverses cell proliferation arrest of the human
