This amphipathic anticancer peptide of 48 amino acids (FKIGGFIKKLWRSKLAKKLRAKGRELLKDYANRVINGGPEEEAAVPAE), termed also NDBP-2.8 [Non-disulfide-bridged peptide 2.8] (for nomenclature see: Almaaytah and Albalas, 2014), has been found in the venom of the Fat-tailed scorpion Androctonus mauritanicus. The secreted peptide is cytotoxic and potently inhibits the proliferation of prostate cancer cell lines at micromolar concentrations.
