This term has been coined by Takita et al (2018) for a mode of cell death observed in the 32D myeloblast-like cell line engineered to express in an inducible manner p210BCR-ABL, the tyrosine kinase believed to be causally involved in chronic myeloid leukemia by causing cell death and differentiation. Overexpression of p210BCR-ABL in this cell line induces cell death due to the activation of both caspase-1 and caspase-3, coincident with the differentiation from myeloid progenitors into CD11b(+) Ly6C(+) Ly6G(+) cells with segmented nuclei, exemplified as
