Daniplestim is a mutated cytokine (see also: Muteins). It is known also as Synthokine and SC-55494. The protein binds to the IL3 receptor-alpha subunit with 60-fold greater affinity and induces cell proliferation and colony-forming unit formation (see also: Colony formation assay, CFC, CFU) 10- to 22-fold better than native IL3 (Thomas et al, 1995). This IL3 variant stimulates greater in vitro multilineage hematopoietic activity than native IL3, while inducing no significant increase in inflammatory activity relative to native IL3
