TX
[transcript X] The cDNA encoding the TX protein shows > 50 % overall sequence identity with the IL1-beta Convertase (ICE) and approximately 30 % sequence identity with the IL1-beta Convertase homologs NEDD2, ICH-1, and CED3. It is related closely also to TY.
TX induces cell death by apoptosis in transfected COS cells (Faucheu et al, 1995). Transfection experiments demonstrate also that TX is a protease which is able to cleave itself and the p30 ICE precursor, but not to generate mature IL1-beta from its proform (Margolin et al, 1997).
