The monoclonal antibody of this name (Bruce et al, 1981) reacts with erythrocytes, neutrophils, greater than 90 % of thymus cells, and most B-cells. It does not have detectable activity for mature T-cells, pluripotential stem cells, platelets, or monocytes and macrophages.
The antibody recognizes the CD24 cell surface marker (Alterman et al, 1990). The cDNA has been cloned by Kay et al, 1990).
